Just signed up after being directed here by Society of Catholic Priests. All this is due to an SCP meeting with Ian M. which encouraged me to think how we might adapt some of the principles of Catholic FE. So, as a start, I have begun 'sacredspace@standrewsromford' - and, in the autumn, a series of events at St. Andrew's using FE principles to bbring some fresh life into the church (not that we haven't some already!)

Francis, Welcome - good to have you on board. Hope very much you'll be able to come to the day in Coventry on 8 Dec 08 - it should be an excellent day and an encouragement for all trying to get things up and engage with the FE movement. Look forward to learning more about what you are up to and how it goes!!!

Sorry taken me a while to get back to you... we are planning a national pilgrimage day with Rowan Williams at the beginning of December - that may be a great moment for you to test out your vocation? ian

Has anyone else noticed that the 2008 calendar suddenly time-warps itself into 2007 after January is finished? (Is it an Ancient-Future calendar I wonder?) By the way the dates I was going to add, were the future dates for Transcendence masses this year which will be... May 4th - Transcendence for Ascensiontide June 1st - Transcendence for Trinity II 6th July - Burdens. 3rd August - Transcendence for Transfiguration.
14th September - Transcendence for Holy Cross Day. 12th October - Creation/Harvest 9th November - Transcendence Remembrance (no Transcendence in December as it clashes with St Michaels' carol service). All services are in York Minster and start at 7.30pm.
Sue.

Absolutely! If this is to be truly working for catholics in the Church of England, it has to be aware of all expressions of that! That and catholics are not good at stepping outside the so-called 'comfort zone'...!

So I am wondering how we take this forward? Not easy when no conservative catholic comes to the Round table meetings? Ian

Not sure whether our small initiatives really count under this banner, but having listened to so many of those who have recently joined us I have begun two new - small - ventures. An informal, short Saturday evening Mass and a Sunday half-hour which I have called 'sacredspace@standrews.romford' Half an hour of silence/reflective music, prayer/readings - not all at the same time) before the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar.
The former is already showing that there's a need (someone even drove up from Kent to attend!!) but no one has come to the latter. But I find it of value and I believe that, in opening the church more often, people will 'find' the space. It's there for whoever passes by and wants to drop in.

Great idea, Glastonbury is not really the easiest place to access if one is coming from the Northern Province... This would have to be worthwile and long enough to spend a lot of time on motorways or trains.

Excellent idea. We need to get people together and spending time/sharing stories and practice and a pilgrimage would be the ideal way to do this. Agree need for clear sense of who it is for and what it is to achieve. Not just a jolly to invite random parishioners on, needs to be focused on those who will be taking forward this work...

Could be great - start small - perhaps with a sharing/conference element as well as prayer & worship.
Need to be clear about aim/objectives, whom to invite/get involved, and who will organise all this! Michael Hart

The pilgrimage will be a big affair I think - and will be the task of the new roundtable once it gets going. It will also draw on at least 2 Associate Missioners of the FE who are on this list
